The entirely new book The Spirit of the Age was launched in July 2021. This is the definitive tome the 'SZ-Model-Series'; 'SZ' had been the manufacturer's code for the generation of Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit, Silver Spur, Bentley Mulsanne, Turbo R and Derivatives. This book covers the story of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley four-door saloons produced from 1980 to 1998. Written by Davide Bassoli following five years of research, ‘The Spirit of the Age describes all four series of the Silver Spirit and Silver Spur, and provides details of all major modifications. Also covered in this book are Bentley Mulsanne, Mulsanne Turbo, Turbo R, Eight, Mulsanne S, Touring Limousine, Turbo S and Brooklands.

The book describes the absolute quality pursued at Crewe during the production period of these cars, which was the basis of the success of the SZ series. Separate chapters provide a wealth of details about the turbocharged Bentley versions, special editions, and conversions by Hooper and Jankel. On a par with the written information is the quality of particularly well-captioned illustrations.
