ORIGINAL ROLLS-ROYCE & BENTLEY 1946-1965 by James Taylor

Apart from their radiator grilles, there is little difference between Rolls-Royce and Bentley standard saloons made during the period from 1946 to the early 1980s. This book covers the models produced between 1946 and 1965, i.e. the non-monocoque cars with bodies mounted onto separate chassis. Starting with Bentley Mark VI/R-Type and Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn 1946-54, then Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I, II & II and Bentley S1, 2 & 3 1955-65, this is a detailed guide to original specifications and equipment, with exhaustive information on production changes and modifications. Mainstream coachbuilt derivatives are also featured, including Bentley Continental R and S series as well as fixed head coupés and drophead coupés by coachbuilders Mulliner, Park Ward and James Young.
So far for the basic information – but it is the photos that will blow you away. These have been taken of carefully selected cars providing evidence of authentic factory condition and are a tremendous help to owners and restorers with a desire to keep a car „as originally delivered“. The photos by Mark Dixon are of outstanding quality and to peruse this book is a sheer delight. This is not just one more book illustrated by well-known company photos repeated for the umpteenth time – magnificent motor cars and their interesting details are shown on exceptionally fine photos that were taken especially for this book. This book had been ‘out of print’ and wasn’t available for quite some time; at least here is a new edition. Highly recommended!
