All those, who are pretty sure to know a Bentley from the early period of the company usually was an open tourer might be astonished about the vast variety of coachwork that originally had been erected on Bentley chassis. Indeed the tourers and sports models were outnumbered by rather heavy bodies like limousines, sedanca de villes and saloon and even landaulets. Just those luxuriously equipped bodies that were to be expected on ‘Upper Crust’ motor cars – and the tremendously expensive Bentley were in that league on their price alone. With detailed mono-photos, a few showing signs of their age, and an impressive array of colour-photos that had specially been commissioned to be made for this book the whole range of coachwork on Vintage Bentley is shown. Fair Warning: Those who are interested in a chronological history of Bentley motor cars and their technical details and specifications will not find such in this book. It does offer exactly what is promised by its title: In-depth information as regards coachwork that originally had been built for various Bentley models. In so far it even offers more than the title promises: Examples of the Bentley 4 Litre, the last of the ‘W.O. Bentleys’, which isn’t mentioned in the headline, do appear in text and illustrations in the book.

Hardback, 280 x 210 mm, 160 pages, ca. 200 Mono-photos and 59 colour-photos
